Eye Study ~ Sumatran Tiger
One of the things that draws me to cats are the eyes. They're so complex and have so much depth. I hesitated on doing an eye study as it's something you see a lot of artists do, but I'm glad I did it. This is a young Sumatran tiger from the Honolulu Zoo and his wide-eyed gaze was exactly what I was looking for. Young tigers tend to have a more intense stare as opposed to older tigers with their sleepy heavy lidded indifference, unless of course there's prey close by and then they always revert back to their alert youth. What do you see in his eyes?
