Emerging
The Emerging Series started with Pombe 1. It was my first colored scratchboard and I envisioned a simple yet powerful concept of the cheetah coming out of the darkness. I was new to the color process (which still, to this day ten years later, gives me a migraine on some pieces), and I didn't want to be overly ambitious. It was one of my most popular works of art and I have collectors still enquiring if it will ever be available again. 'Emerging' came about as a request for a commissioned piece based on Pombe 1 but with a tiger instead. The collector is a Vietnam Vet and he said his greatest fear while in country was the tigers in the jungle, their stealth through the jungle was something as a soldier he aimed to master to stay alive. This is my interpretation of his vision.
