Protection
This is the first in my 'Motherhood Series' and couldn't be a more perfect image. Pelicans are one of my favorite birds to watch, they are fierce protectors of their young. Few animals in nature work harder than a mother bird, and pelicans are no exception - it takes over 150 lbs of fish to raise one pelican chick! As a mother of 2 amazing beautiful girls, who are growing faster than I could have possibly imagined, I'm drawn to images that show the fierce bond and dedication of motherhood in nature.
