Emerging
Some pictures start as an idea but don't fully conceptualize until a client makes a request and tells a story. I initially started the "Emerging" series as a clever way to get out of scratching the entire animal WHILE playing on light and shadow AND conveniently using the black background the board came with. So inspirational, right? Pombe 1 was the first of the series but my client wanted a snarling tiger coming out of the dark as a reminder of the only thing that scared him more than being a soldier in the jungles of Vietnam and that was the tigers that prowled the same jungles. We compromised on the snarling - as I didn't have any photo references of my own I could use - and came up with this gem. He's actually a young tiger from the LA Zoo but I have yet to find out his name or any specifics about hime - a rarity for me.
